Question from: 17.5.2011

Q:    Ever since I suffered facial shingles (over my eyes and along the optic nerve) I also experience outbreaks of herpes along the area of my nose. The blisters develop and break open very quickly. Can I use the Herpotherm® during this     stadium of the attack?
A:    Treatment of a herpes attack is only sensible when the symptoms are still active. These symptoms can also be effectively stopped during this stadium accompanied by the good probability of a quicker healing. Please keep in mind that the fluid within the blisters highly contagious is and can be spread not only to others but also to other parts of your own body.[more]

Question from: 9.5.2011

Q:    I have the problem that the batteries in my Herpotherm® are constantly empty. What can I do? Or is the device broken? I just bought it recently and have used it at the most 6 times.
A:    Please return the device directly to me. It will be checked and if necessary replaced. It is likely that the electrical standby within the device is too high.[more]

Question from: 9.5.2011

Q:    First of all I want to praise this device. I am thrilled with it! I have bought one myself though at first I was skeptical until 2 weeks ago when I experienced a strange sensation on my lips and the device helped. The attacked was blocked. I was desperate and had suffered from constant herpes outbreaks since early January. I had the feeling that the virus had taken over my entire life. I am truly satisfied and hope to remain so. I do have a question however, at which point is the herpes virus contagious? Are the blisters or only the fluid within dangerous, or also when the blisters are crusted over the wounds? I have researched in the internet but have failed to find a reasonable answer. I am happy to have found a reliable source for information as you.
A:    I am pleased that the Herpotherm® has provided you with good results. That is the way it is supposed to be.  In the case of lip herpes, it is the fluid from the blisters, which is responsible for the spread of the virus. This means blisters, which are open, and not yet crusted can spread the virus. During the initial phase, when the symptoms of itching and slight reddening are present, there is no danger of spread. With oral or genital herpes the danger of carry-over is far greater also at the early phase. In these body areas there is no externally stabilizing skin to cover the blister and contain it. The danger of catching the virus is real but sometimes not obvious. Luckily this is a problem you don´t have.  Lip herpes on the other hand has been estimated to be present in 90% of the general population. You don´t need to consider yourself contagious, only in the case of children (especially infants) should one be particularly careful.[more]

Q:    I would like to know how long the battery in this device holds?

A:    As a rule the CR2 battery which comes with the device holds for several hundred applications before it has to be replaced. Necessity for battery replacement is indicated through 3x LED blinking and 3x beep signal.[more]

Question from: 28.4.2011

Q:    I am very satisfied with the stick, unfortunately (it is 1year old) it has started to function on a limited basis, I have to     press 4 or 5 times before it goes on. Please send to me an e-mail with the necessary info pertaining to either battery exchange or repair. Since I bought this device I have had no lip herpes and it should stay this way. With approx. 100-stage performances/year, the stick has turned out to be a good insurance.
Greetings from Berlin
Ulla Meinecke

A:    Hello Frau Meinecke, I was pleasantly surprised to see your name under this question form. I have been a fan (along with several friends, wife and family) of yours since the 1980s and have often applauded your performances in Greifswald. All the more reason to be pleased with your satisfaction with the Herpotherm® [more]

Question from: 20.4.2011

Q:    Can I use Herpotherm® even if the herpes has not yet broken out or is the device only useful preventatively prior to attack.
A:    The Herpotherm® can only exert its full prophylactic effect if used at the first sign of symptoms or blister development. When the device is right away applied to the developing blister, the chances of it receding are good. If the blister is already erupted, use of the Herpotherm® can help alleviate the accompanying symptoms. Users have also reported an accelerated healing process. The basic facts are the following: Herpotherm® should be used at the earliest sign of herpes symptoms. If the symptoms are only minimalized and do not completely disappear, usage should be repeated. Outbreak can only be avoided if the symptoms are completely stopped.[more]
